Garry studied law at Warwick University. After graduating he completed his training at Macks and qualified as a solicitor in 2001. After a few years working in London, Garry returned to Macks in 2007. Garry has extensive experience in handling a wide variety of cycle claims. Garry is a keen cyclist and this year successfully completed a Coast to Coast cycle challenge, raising money for charity.
In a recent case, Garry represented a cyclist who cycled over a pothole at night after it had been raining, meaning that the pothole was filled with water and it was impossible to tell how deep it was. The cyclist was flung from her bike and suffered a broken wrist. The local council initially tried to deny any liability on the basis that they had inspected that stretch of road four weeks previously and found no potholes. Engineering evidence obtained by Garry, however, illustrated that the pothole had actually been there for much longer than four weeks. The claimant received compensation for her injuries and also for the damage to her bike, with the case prompting the local council to be more proactive in repairing and maintaining roads.
